Cane & Rush Seating

Manual through-caning or pre-woven cane, and traditional rush seating to restore life and strength to your woven chairs.

Respect for Weaving Techniques We restore life and strength to your woven seats by strictly adhering to the original method. Whether it's a Thonet chair or a rustic seat, we guarantee perfect tension and pattern.

Furniture Categories

  • Caning: Bistro chairs (Thonet), Breuer armchairs, caned headboards.
  • Rush Seating: Country chairs, prayer chairs, rustic stools.
  • Cording: Scandinavian furniture (Danish cord).

Artisanal Methodology

  • Hand Caning (Through-Caning): Strand-by-strand weaving through the frame holes (traditional, knotted at the back).
  • Sheet Caning (Spline): Installation of pre-woven cane set into a groove (modern method).
  • Rush Seating: Manual weaving in X-pattern or envelope pattern, ensuring a firm and durable seat.

Natural Materials

  • Cane: Premium rattan cane (natural bark).
  • Rush: Genuine rye straw (golden), seagrass, or paper cord for a more modern look.

Logistics and Support

  • Lead Time: Manual weaving is meticulous and time-consuming.
  • Staining: Possibility to stain new cane to harmonize with an antique patina.

Cost Considerations

  • Flat Rate Pricing: Generally calculated per piece or per woven surface area.
  • Repairability: Only the woven part is changed, preserving the chair's structure.
